FAQ

Answers to common questions about Hong Kong company formation, company secretary, bank accounts, annual compliance, tax filing and licensing.

Do I need to come to Hong Kong to form a company?

Usually no. Mainland and overseas clients can complete most company formation steps through e-signing and online KYC. Some bank account or licence applications may require a separate interview.

Must a Hong Kong company appoint a company secretary?

Yes. A Hong Kong private company must appoint a company secretary. An individual secretary should usually reside in Hong Kong; a corporate secretary must have a registered office or place of business in Hong Kong.

Can the director also act as company secretary?

If the company has only one director, that director cannot also act as company secretary. Companies with multiple directors must still ensure the secretary meets Hong Kong legal and compliance requirements.

Is bank account opening guaranteed?

No. Banks assess applications independently based on KYC, business model, source of funds, transaction countries, director background and business proof. BL Global helps prepare documents and interviews.

Does an inactive Hong Kong company still need annual compliance?

Yes. Even without business activity, a Hong Kong company must handle business registration renewal, annual returns, accounting records, audit and tax filing obligations.

Can Mainland residents form a Hong Kong company?

Yes. Mainland residents can form a Hong Kong limited company. Typical documents include identity proof, address proof, company name, shareholding, share capital and business nature.
